As one of the most exciting debut albums to drop in 2025, Old Mervs LP (produced by Chris Collins) surges from shimmering Australian indie, to chugging Brit-pop, to gorgeously woozy ‘90s West Coast alt-rock. The album is led by addictive new single ‘Don’t Go’, which both captures the vibrancy of their live show and delivers their signature ‘Mervs sound.
The duo explain, “‘Don’t Go’ was the last song we wrote for the album. We felt like we needed another upbeat song for the album that could make its way into the set list. They are the funnest songs to write in the studio, heaps of energy and mucking around while imagining playing it live is pretty much what it is.”
Old Mervs arrives as one of the year’s most highly anticipated Australian albums. The Western Australian duo from Kojonup (WA) have earned themselves a ferociously devoted fan base since breaking out with punchy surf rock tracks like ‘Cellphone’ and ‘Waiting Around’. Henry and Dave sketched the blueprint for Old Mervs while jamming for hours in a makeshift space in an old shed on Henry’s family farm. The hard work stood them in good stead, and they became known for compelling, high-energy sets that instantly set them apart in the music landscape.
