The Silverline is an Americana/country duo making waves in the Australian country music scene with their award-winning songwriting, tight harmonies, and heartfelt storytelling. Partners in both music and life, Michael and Catherine Lehnen bring a depth of experience and authenticity to their craft, blending American and Australian influences into a distinct and captivating sound.
Michael, originally from Seattle, WA, honed his skills as a lead guitarist and vocalist, performing across the U.S. West Coast before securing a development deal with Mercury Polygram Records. His playing blends country, blues, and soul, creating a rich and emotive sound. With more than 25 years as a country radio DJ, including time at Wizard 106 in Tupelo, Mississippi, he worked alongside icons such as Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, and Brooks & Dunn.
Catherine’s musical journey has been equally impressive. She has toured with the Australian Army Band and The Tommy Dorsey Revival Band, performed at major venues like the Melbourne Concert Hall, and appeared on Australian television, including New Faces and The Voice (Season 7), where she performed live for Boy George and Delta Goodrem. Her powerhouse vocals and stage presence bring a dynamic edge to The Silverline’s sound.
Together, The Silverline has achieved five #1 singles on the Australian National Country Charts and won Best Duo at the 2025 Tamworth Independent Country Music Awards. In 2022, they were named Best Group at the Tamworth Country Music Festival People’s Choice Awards, and their song Box of Wood was ranked #28 on Capital Country Radio’s Top 100 Songs of All Time. Their songwriting talent has also led to collaborations with Golden Guitar winners Allan Caswell and David Carter.
Beyond their musical success, The Silverline is dedicated to making a difference. They use their music to raise awareness for important causes, partnering with organizations like Buy a Bale, The Exodus Foundation, and the Charlie Teo Foundation to support issues such as homelessness, drought relief, and medical research. Their deeply moving songs have provided hope and inspiration, earning them a strong connection with their audience.
The duo has performed extensively across New South Wales, including a headline show at the Capitol Theatre during the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Their music videos have gained national exposure on Foxtel’s CMT, helping expand their reach even further.
With an ever-growing fan base and a reputation for compelling, emotionally charged songs, The Silverline continues to solidify its place in the Australian country music landscape.
